All of the transitional housing programs residents engaged in self-care activities, working towards a healthier mental, emotional, physical and/or spiritual well-being. Housing staff have continued to find creative ways to increase resident buy-in through strategic surveys and interviews. Residents continuous feedback has created stronger communication between program staff and residents in the program. This in turn has contributed to an increase in leadership qualities of residents and the eventual creation of a resident advisor internship. The transgender housing program participated in and hosted a wide range of events for the residents including a major holiday pop up shop where residents were able to obtain designer clothing, makeup, and accessories with the assistance of a personal shopper; and culturally relevant events and shows such as slave play and open mics at urban word nyc.
