Trans lifeline is a national trans-led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education. Our vision is to fight the epidemic of trans suicide and improve overall life-outcomes of trans people by facilitating justice-oriented, collective community aid.

In 2019, trans lifeline's microgrants program distributed $252,279.32 in small grants to 631 individuals and $43,500 in grants to 7 small service organizations for updated legal identification documents, legal name and gender changes, and commissary support. For grants to individuals, this represents a 53.5% increase over 2018's $117,263 in funds distributed and a 47.1% increase over 2018's 334 clients served. For grants to small service organizations, this represents a 69.1% increase over 2018's $13,452 in funds distributed. Additionally, the program expanded services to include increased inside advocacy, benefiting incarcerated or formerly incarcerated transgender individuals.
In 2019, trans lifeline's hotline program answered 25,435 peer-support calls from 10,341 unique callers, totalling 371,968 minutes of talk time. This represents a 17.3% increase over 2018's 21,044 peer-support calls answered, a 26.7% increase over 2018's 7,580 unique callers, and a 11% increase over 2018's 330,948 minutes of talk time. These statistics show that we are increasing volume as well as efficiency within the program. Additionally, the new soffa line was launched, which provides support for friends, family, and loved ones of transgender individuals.
